How to become a Christian

Millions have found that what the Bible says is true, that only Jesus Christ is the one who can give you eternal hope, forgiveness and true meaning of life.

You're not an accident or a sophisticated version of a monkey. You're not insignificant and destined to live a life of mediocrity and boredom to then end in death. God has a purpose for your life, including friendship with Him - made possible through a personal faith in his son, Jesus.

If you want to have a right relationship with God and an assured life for eternity, then here's how to start (with some Bible references to check out - all from the New Testament):

1. ADMIT that you need help from above, that you are a part of God's fallen world in need of salvation (Romans chapter 3 verse 23)

2. RECOGNISE that only Jesus, the holy Son of God, could save you - that none of your good works or intentions is good enough to get you through (Ephesians chapter 2 verses 8 to 9).

3. ACKNOWLEDGE in prayer to God, that when Jesus died he did it for you, to make you right with God again. Simply tell God that you accept his gift of salvation through Jesus and what he did for you on the cross (Matthew chapter 20 verse 28).

4. INVITE God's Holy Spirit into your heart to help you from within to live a life which is pleasing to God. Ask God to fill you with the presence of His Spirit.

5. ASK God to forgive all your failings and to make you pure within (1 John chapter 1 verse 9).

6. THANK GOD that Jesus' tomb is now empty - he DID rise from the dead: it's a historical fact! This is a sign that God accepted Jesus' sacrifice on your behalf and that Jesus IS trustworthy, so he WILL keep his promises to you! (John chapter 11 verse 25).

7. COMMIT YOURSELF to finding God's plan for your life. Leave all your old, harmful habits behind you and live the life that God has always intended you to live. (Galatians chapter 2 verse 20 and Ephesians chapter 2 verse 10).

8. NOW LIVE THE LIFE TO THE FULL in the power of Jesus Christ (2 Corinthians chapter 5 verse 17).

9. FIND A GOOD CHURCH to become part of.
